Analysis of the process of absorption of benzene hydrocarbons at coking plants of the Donbass

1983
Proceeding from the principal equations of absorption theory, a mathematical model consists of the process of absorption of benzene hydrocarbons. The model was constructed of an analytical relationship between the input quantity (the degree of absorption) and three determining generalized variables (complexes of quantities characterizing the features of the industrial regime). The values of the generalized variables were determined from operating data for benzol scrubbers at 10 coking plants in the Donbass. From the position of a point characterizing the industrial regime one may determine the value and direction of the change of the technological factors in the space of the generalized variables to intensify the absorption process. The analysis showed that at the majority of plants a low degree of absorption is due to inadequate removal of benzol from the working oil and a high oil temperature. A significant increase in the absorption efficiency may be achieved without changing the specific absorption surface (with the exception of Division No. 3 at the Donetsk Coke Works, where an increase is apparently not required) merely by varying the indicated factors: for the Zhdanovka and Yenakievo (Division No. 2) Coke Works an increase in the specific flow rate of the wash ismore » effective.« less
