Application of the M Parallel Series computers in industry

1996
In recent years, demand has increased for the integration of the mission-critical system, the information-service-oriented system, and the communication-facilitating system into a consolidated enterprise-wide information infrastructure, to better adjust to the rapidly changing business and social environments. Hitachi, Ltd. has developed the M Parallel Series as a family of backbone servers for the 21st century, indispensable to the infrastructure that enables more strategic use ofkey corporate information. The parallel processing features of the series, batch parallel and DB/DC parallel, speed up batch and DB/DC processing with improved efficiency of operation, thereby enhancing the user's ability to execute his/her existing applications. The high-speed processing achieved through batch parallel prevents the extension of batch execution time, a major problem in many information systems today. Furthermore, the series's connectivity and interoperability with open environments as well as with the Internet make it possible not only to expand existing services, but also to provide new services to customers. As a foundation for information systems in the 21st century, expanded use in new application fields such as data warehousing is also under consideration.
