Di- and tri-metal compounds prepared from the metal alkylidyne complexes [W(CR)(CO)2(η-C5Me5)](R = Me or C6H4Me-4) and [M(CR)(CO)2{HB(pz)3}][M = Mo, R = C6H4Me-4; M = W, R = Me; HB(pz)3= hydrotris(pyrazol-1-yl)borate]

The metal alkylidyne complexes [Cr(CC6H4Me-4)(CO)2(η-C5H5)], [W(CMe)(CO)2(η-C5Me5)], and [M(CC6H4Me-4)(CO)2{HB(pz)3}][M = Cr or Mo, HB(pz)3= hydrotris(pyrazol-1-yl)borate] have been prepared. These species, and the previously reported compounds [W(CR)(CO)2L][R = Me, L = HB(pz)3; R = C6H4Me-4, L =η-C5Me5], have been used to synthesise several di- and tri-metal complexes, including [MCo2(µ3-CR)(CO)8L](M = Cr, R = C6H4Me-4, L =η-C5H5; M = W, R = Me, L =η-C5Me5), [FeMo(µ-CC6H4Me-4)(CO)n{HB(pz)3}](n= 5 or 6), [RhW(µ-CMe)(CO)3(η-C5Me5)(η5-C9H7)], [Rh2W(µ3-CMe)(µ-CO)(CO)2(η-C5Me5)3], [Mo2W(µ3-CMe)(CO)6(η-C5H5)2{HB(pz)3}], and [MW2(µ-CR)2(µ-CO)2(CO)4L2][M = Mo, R = Me, L = HB(pz)3; M = Mo or W, R = C6H4Me-4, L =η-C5Me5]. Spectroscopic data for the new compounds and some reactions are reported and discussed.
