On Taiwan Authorities' "Surviving Diplomacy"

This paper analyzes the "surviving diplomacy" proposed by the Taiwan authorities after the second power turnover on the island.It makes a distinction between this diplomacy and other related concepts,such as "elastic diplomacy" and "pragmatic diplomacy",and explains its meaning and features.Through a historical comparison,the paper demonstrates that Taiwan authorities' "international space" will be further narrowed down due to mainland China's increasing economic power and big-power diplomacy.The issue of Taiwan's international activities can only be resolved through cross-Taiwan Strait negotiations based on the "1992 Consensus."
