AGenetic FuzzySystem forDefining aReactive Dispatching RuleforAGVs

Inthelast decades Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs)havebeenwidely usedasautomated material handling system inFlexible Manufacturing System (FMS) aiming toimprove theuseoffactory's resources, increase theproductivity, decrease thelead time andmaintain the delivery dates. However thedefinition ofwhich AGVwill attend which request isnotaneasy task. Inthis work, the authors propose afuzzy system todecide which jobthe AGVwill attend first based onsomespecific criteria. The fuzzy system isbuilt automatically fromnumerical data by agenetic algorithm. Theproposed approach wastested andvalidated bycomputer simulations inaFMS.
