The invention provides a solar tracking device based on screw rod transmission, comprising a solar plate bracket, a solar plate rotation driving mechanism and a base, wherein the upper surface of the solar plate bracket is externally connected with a solar plate; the solar plate rotation driving mechanism comprises a rotation supporting mechanism, a first screw rod transmission mechanism and a second screw rod transmission mechanism that are arranged in parallel with one another; two ends of the rotation supporting mechanism are connected with the geometrically central position of the solar plate bracket and the geometrically central position of the base respectively; two ends of the first screw rod transmission mechanism and two ends of the second screw rod transmission mechanism are connected with the solar plate bracket and the base respectively; the rotation supporting mechanism, the first screw rod transmission mechanism and the second screw rod transmission mechanism are arranged in vertical direction; and the central connecting line between the rotation supporting mechanism and the first screw rod transmission mechanism is vertical to the central connecting line of the rotation supporting mechanism and the second screw rod transmission mechanism. The invention also provides a controlling and adjusting method for the solar tracking device. The solar tracking device has small power consumption and is suitable for being mounted in mountainous areas.
