Photoionization of dopants in liquid argon-xenon mixture

Abstract The photoionization quantum efficiency φ of trimethylamine (TMA) in liquid Ar doped with Xe (0.01–0.4%) has been measured and compared with the value obtained in liquid Xe. TMA is excited by vacuum ultraviolet photons originating from Xe 2 * produced by α-particles. Doping liquid Ar with Xe causes a wavelength shift from emission of Ar 2 * to Xe 2 * .
