Optical Access Networks – From FTTH-Centric to New Use-Cases

We describe the requirements for future high-speed PON systems to allow for coping with 5G RAN use cases and explain the actions at the level of standardization. Further, we will provide technical insights into the use of DSP to obtain larger PON capacity and increased flexibility, and we present several measures to realize deterministic PON transport solutions.
