Effect of valve dislocation on tray performance

2006
The effect of valve dislocating on hydraulic and mass transfer performance of tray was studied.Based on the theoretical analysis, experiments were carried out in a rectangular simulator and a circular simulator with F_1-valve trays to determine the performance of trays with valve dislocation at different proportions. The results show that valve dislocating has significant influence on hydrodynamic and mass transfer performance of tray.Compared with the normal tray, tray with valves falling off has lower pressure drop, more weeping and entrainment, hence the poorer operating flexibility. The mass transfer efficiency will be obviously decreased due to the valve dislocation, especially in the case of lower liquid loading.
