Fabrication of Modified Porro Prism Assembly

A modified porro prism assembly consisting of three prisms has been developed for the laser application. The prism assembly has transmission and reflection characteristics for different wavelengths, so that a single component works for transmitter as well as for sight. This paper describes the fabrication of the prisms by conventional pitch polishing method and their assembly using laser interferometric method. The prism assembly has been tested for its performance in an actual laser range finding system.
