Cardiovascular Effect of Simultaneous Static Contractions of the Digit Flexors and the Quadriceps

1988
In order to examine if the increase in heart rate (HR) produced by the isometric contraction of an upper limb muscle group is sufficient to increase the perfusion of a second muscle group (of the lower limb) that is also sustaining an isometric contraction but at a relative force lower to that of the former muscle group, nine female subjects simultaneously carried out in the seated position an isometric contraction of the right quadriceps femoris (RQ) at 40% MVC and of the right hand digit flexors (RH) at 50% MVC until exhaustion
