Status of Nutrition Education in Canadian Family Practice Residency Programs: Educating the family physician about nutritional standards.

1991
Abstract A questionnaire was mailed to all 62 unit and program directors of Canadian family practice residency programs to elicit details about the status of nutrition education. Although most respondents indicated that the registered dietitian was the primary person responsible for teaching nutrition, this responsibility comprised only 10% of the dietitian's time in most programs. Lack of funding and curriculum time were the most common reasons cited for the limited scheduling that the dietitian was able to devote to nutrition education.
