Moving Beyond Fidelity

Abstract The science, conversation, and application of the terms fidelity, authenticity, and realism have evolved since the first edition of this textbook. This chapter will cover the newer lexicon behind these terms. It will provide key examples of the three types of realism, a short primer on authenticity, and an approach to understand how fidelity might be tailored through the concepts of realism and authenticity.
