Lung Ultrasound and Noninvasive Ventilation

2016
Lung ultrasound (LUS) is used increasingly in many conditions such as pneumonia, pneumothorax, and evaluation of diaphragm function. LUS is crucial for the assessment of lung recruitment in the management of patients with hypoxemic respiratory failure, for the estimation of work of breathing during noninvasive ventilation, and for the evaluation of diaphragmatic dysfunction during weaning from mechanical ventilation.
