The reaction of 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(p-chlorophehyl)ethane with vinylidene chloride
1979
1.
The reaction of 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)ethane with vinylidene chloride leads to the intermediate formation of the radicals Ar2CHCCl2CH2CCl2, which undergo cyclization with subsequent dehydrochlorination, 2,4,6-trichloro-1-(p-chlorophenyl)naphthalene being formed. The reaction is of preparative value for the synthesis of polychlorinated naphthalenes.
2.
A method has been developed for the analysis of mixtures containing low-volatility polychloro-aromatic compounds by high-performance liquid chromatography.
