Congenital Intestinal Malrotation beyond Neonatal Period
1992
The diagnosis of malrotation is more difficult in parients beyond neonatal period. The clinical manifestation is vague, including reccurent vomiting, diarrhea, intermittent abdominal pain, malnutrition and general under development.Abnormal position of the upper jejunum and/or cecum may be shown in contrast radiogram. The Ladd procedure was performed on all cases. The common complication was adhesive intestinal obstruction.Awareness of the persistent vague GI symptoms in patients beyond neonatal period may help us reduce the misdiagnosis of malrotation.
