Transportation Energy Research; (USA)

1991
Transportation Energy Research (TER) announces on a monthly basis the current worldwide research and development (R D) information available on energy-efficient, environmentally sound transportation technologies. Its purpose is to enhance the technology transfer efforts of the US Department of Energy (DOE) with the transportation end-user sector. This publication contains the abstracts of DOE reports, journal articles, conference papers, patents, theses, and monographs added to the Energy Science and Technology Database (EDB) during the past month. Also included are US information obtained through acquisition programs or interagency agreements and international information obtained through the International Energy Agency's Energy Technology Data Exchange or government-to-government agreements. The DOE Office of Transportation Technologies (OTT) manages federal R D programs aimed at improving transportation-sector energy efficiency. OTT currently supports activities in four major program areas: Electric and Hybrid Vehicles Program, including improved vehicle batteries, electric vehicle propulsion systems, and fuel cell propulsion technology; Advanced Propulsion Systems Program, including advanced automotive gas turbine engines, heavy-duty diesel engine technology, reduction of chlorofluorocarbon use in vehicles, and magnetic levitation technology; Advanced Materials Program, including ceramic technology for advanced heat engines, and tribology research; and Alternative Fuels Program, including research, development, demonstration, testing, and evaluation of alternative fuels.
