2016
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of compound kushen tincture in the treatment of Hang Kong foot among officers and men in the southeast coast. Methods One hundred and five patients with Hang Kong foot were randomly divided into 3 groups: the compound kushen tincture group, the compound pseudolaric tincture group and the compound resorcinol lotion group, each consisting of 35 patients. The patients of the 3 groups were respectively treated externally with the drugs, twice a day for a succession of 4 weeks. Both before and after treatment, deflorescence was closely observed in all the patients of the groups, and fungi microscopy was performed to evaluate the therapeutic effects. Results Thirty-five patients in the compound kushen tincture group completed the study, 34 patients in the compound pseudolaric tincture group completed the study and another 34 patients in the compound resorcinol lotion group completed the study. The cure rate of the compound kushen tincture group was 85.7%, and the rate of the compound pseudolaric tincture group and the compound resorcinol lotion group were respectively 67.6% and 61.8%. Statistical significance could be noted, when comparisons were made between the 3 groups(χ2=0.047, P<0.05). The difference was statistically significant (χ2=0.047, P<0.05) . For the patients with vesicular scaly Hong Kong foot, the prominent cure rate of the compound kushen tincture group was 93.8%, while that of the compound resorcinol lotion group was 75%. Statistical significance could be seen, when comparisons were made between these 2 groups(χ2=8.480, P<0.01). Conclusions The efficacy of compound kushen tincture in the treatment of Hong Kong foot was significant, which was worth further clinical extension.
