Fiber reinforced aln composite member and its production
1992
PURPOSE: To obtain a lightweight high strength composite member excellent in heat and oxidation resistance by filling molten Al into the gaps among fibers, nitriding the Al and making the fibers composite in the resulting AlN matrix. CONSTITUTION: Molten Al or Al alloy is filled into the gaps among fibers to be impregnated and nitrided and the fibers are made composite in the resulting AlN matrix to obtain the objective composite member. The fibers are used in the form of chops, roving, cloth or multi-dimensional fabric and the molten Al or Al alloy is filled into part or all of the gaps among the fibers to be impregnated. Carbon fibers, ceramic fibers or metal fibers may be used as the fibers for reinforcement. COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
