Exploring the germination of Cactaceae, including 18 species of Mammillaria (with 2 figures & 3 tables)

The present study standardizes a very simple technique for inducing germination of species of Cactaceae including 18 of the genus Mammillaria and two of the genus Ferocactus. Seventy five per cent moisture favours germination compared to 100, 50, and 25%. Continuous light (photoperiod) and high temperature (30 °C) stimulate germination of cactus seed. Highly significant differences of germination percentage were observed among species.
