Facile Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Limonia Acidissima Leaf Extract and its Antibacterial Activity

The rapid biological synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Limonia acidissima leaf extract provides environmental-friendly, simple, and efficient route for synthesis of benign nanoparticles. The formation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was analyzed by visual observation and UV-visible spectrophotometer. The synthesized AgNPs were characterized by using powder X-ray diffractometry (P-XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), and high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HR-TEM) analysis. The FT-IR analysis suggests that the obtained AgNPs might be stabilized through the interaction of polyphenols, alcohols, ketones, carboxylic acids, and amines. The P-XRD and HR-TEM images showed that the synthesized stable AgNPs were approximately 20–40 nm with an average size of 30 nm with a spherical shape. We also studied the antibacterial property of AgNPs against resistant human pathogens like Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Bacillus subtilis.
