Towards Classical Josephson Terahertz Detector

2019
High-T c Josephson junctions with Josephson dynamics suppressed by thermal fluctuations were evaluated as detectors of electromagnetic radiation. Classical rectification of THz radiation in the frequency range below 1 THz and in the power range of 4 decades in YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7-x bicrystal Josephson junctions was experimentally found. As the result of analytical and numerical calculations, the NEP-value of 7·10-15 W/Hz1/2 and power dynamic range of 3·105 at the frequencies up to 1.4 THz were obtained for quasiclassical detection with YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7-x Josephson junctions operating at the temperature T of 50 K.
