Research on the Morphology and Adhesion Performance of Screen Printed Antenna for RFID Tag

Radio frequency identification (RFID) is an automatic identification technology in information communication field. Antenna is the key component of RFID tag. Due to the rise of wireless network technology and Internet of Things technology, the rapid development of RFID technology has brought new opportunities to traditional printing process. Etching and electroplating methods are used to manufacture RFID tag and the antenna in the past decades. The conventional process is complicated and it cost a long time to finish. A large amount of metal materials is consumed in the process. In addition, metal and liquids of chemical waste are generated during the production process, causing serious pollution. With the development of printed electronics technology and the emergence of nano-silver conductive inks, new manufacturing technologies are applied into RFID tags production. Nano-silver conductive ink not only has excellent conductivity, but also has good chemical stability and simple preparation. In this work, screen printing technology is used to print the antenna of the RFID tag with nano-silver conductive ink. The surface morphology and adhesion performance of the printed antenna is analyzed by laser confocal microscope and tearing test. The printed antenna can meet the practical application and has potential application value.
