Catalogue for an exhibition that travelled to Joliette (Qc.), Oakville and London (Ont.) in 2001, with reproductions of 20 paintings produced between 1989-2000 (19 of which comprised the exhibition.) Curator Theriault analyzes the shifting gaze which the paintings provoke in the viewer, and divides her discussion of the works’ treatment of contemporary experience into three categories: temporality, history and the sensory. A quality of incompleteness, the creating of space within space, as well as the recurrence of motifs such as the record and the book are also discussed.
