Polarization in deep inelastic collisions of heavy ions

The quantum-mechanical expressions for the polarization in deep inelastic reactions between heavy ions are analyzed. On the assumption of an edge mechanism of the reaction and for high values of the spins of the final nuclei, expressions are obtained for the polarization in a fixed quantum channel and after averaging over many channels.
