Observaciones sobre helenismos y latinismos recientes en el campo de la nomenclatura zoológica

espanolEl articulo ofrece un panorama breve pero representativo de los derroteros por los que se mueve en la actualidad la terminologia zoologica, muy especialmente la que afecta a los vertebrados, tanto en el neolatin cientifico —que es su vehiculo original— como en las lenguas modernas, con atencion preferente al espanol. Todo ello se considera no desde el punto de vista del naturalista, sino del estudioso de los helenismos y latinismos modernos, cuya morfologia y semantica siguen a menudo unas pautas muy distintas a las que regian la formacion de palabras en las lenguas antiguas, por lo que, se argumenta, merecen una atencion particularizada por parte del filologo clasico. EnglishThe article provides a concise but representative panorama of some recent tendencies in zoological nomenclature, especially in terms regarding the vertebrates. It focuses both in scientific Neolatin (the original vehicle for this terminology) and in modem languages, with particular attention to Spanish. The paper does not consider the scientist’s point of view, but that of a linguist interested in Greek and Latin word constituents in European languages. Both of them, from a morphological and semantic standpoint, often behave in a quite different way in comparison with ancient Greek and Latin. This is the reason for which they deserve, as it is argued, the careful attention of the classical scholar.
