COMPLEMENTARIDADE PRODUTIVA NA AMÉRICA DO SUL EM 2005

The objective of this paper is to analyze the regional input-output matrix of 2005 created by Ipea for South America, seeking to understand the regional value chains and productive complementarity in the region from the structuralist perspective. It is built a map of the productive and commercial structures of the South-American countries, then the backward and forward linkage effects are shown as well as the GVC backward index of value added imported in the gross exports. From these results, sectorial productive and commercial complementarity are defined through a SWOT analysis. Finally, conclusions and suggestions of policies to strengthen the South American productive network are presented.
