Comparison of Evaluation Standards for Green Building

The annual energy consumption of construction industry was immense in all over the world, and the impact of it was very significant on environment and economics. A great number of developed and developing countries employed kinds of measures to resolve this urgent issue, including policy, economic, and technology instruments. Moreover, green building rating system as one policy instrument was becoming more and more popular with decision-makers and various countries developed their green building rating systems. In China, with the government vigorously developing the green economy, green buildings and low-carbon cities, the relevant standards and rating systems have been released. The objectives of this paper were to review the development of Assessment Standard for Green Building (ASGB) in China, to compare it with the rating system in China, United States, Britain, Singapore and South Korea. The comparison was conducted from 3 aspects including evaluation index, evaluation weight, and evaluation rank based on different forms. The research findings revealed that water, energy, indoor environment quality were commonly used although these rating systems were initiated by different background. At last, some suggestions were being proposed to improve and develop the green building rating system in China.
