A device for testing tyres resting on a base, including a unit for remotely acquiring data on the wheel in question, which unit includes a digital camera (3) and a video board for digitally imaging the wheel, a unit (9, 12) for scanning the resulting image to give data indicative of at least the outline of the tyre, a computing unit (13) for computing tyre deflection on the basis of the outline thus determined, and a signalling unit (15) for indicating whether or not the tyre is properly inflated, on the basis of the computed deflection. The device is useful for testing private cars, trucks and lorries, aircraft, etc.
