Francisco Garcia Pavon‘s works about Pliniohave been subject to many studies that, however, do not end up fitting it into a specific sociological and literary context that gives full reason for its strange singularity. Some have wanted to contemplate it as a remote antecedent of the Spanish ―black‖ novel. Others have tried to frame it within the context of an obsolete traditionalism. Nor have the readings in political key lacked. All these approaches fall short when it comes to understanding a work that is often ignored, and which, due to its own value, deserves the respect of not being labeled.
