Andhatoda vasica Nees (Acanthaceae) commonly known as vasaka distributed throughout India up to an altitude of 1300 .The leaves, flowers, fruit and roots are extensively used for treating cold cough, whooping cough, chronic bronchitis and asthma, as sedative, expectorant and antispasmodic. Very little work has been done in the field for Adhatoda vasica a multifarious medicinal plant. It is therefore very imperative to understand the seed biology and regeneration in Adhatoda vasica before planning of devising strategies for its sustainable use. In the present study along with alkaloid content, estimation of seed reserves such as proteins, fats, starch, sugars has been undertaken from the seed samples collected from the diverse experimental sites.
