Synthesis, structure, and luminescent property of a novel cadmium (II) carboxyphosphonate with a 2D layered structure using 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid as second linker

2011
Abstract By using the N-morpholinomethylphosphonic acid as the phosphonate ligand and 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid as the second metal linker, a novel cadmium(II) phosphonate with a 3D framework structure, namely, [Cd 2 (HL)(bdc)(Hbdc)] ( 1 ) (H 2 L=O(CH 2 CH 2 ) 2 NCH 2 PO 3 H 2 , H 2 bdc = HOOCC 6 H 4 COOH) has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. In compound 1 , the {CdO 6 } and {CdO 7 } polyhedra are interconnected by phosphonate groups into a 1D chain, each chain is connected by the bdc 2− anions into a 2D layer, and the adjacent layers are further linked via the bdc 2− anions to form a 3D framework structure with a 1D channel system along the a -axis. Luminescent property of compound 1 has also been studied.
