HOT PRESSING OF MOLYBDENUM POWDER.

1970
1. A study was made of the sintering, by the hot pressing technique, of molybdenum powder in the temperature range 1700–1900°C. Conditions enabling dense specimens (of 3% porosity) to be prepared were determined. 2. The energy of activation for the sintering of molybdenum powder by the hot pressing technique was found to be 46 kcal/mole. 3. A comparison was made of the energies of activation for molybdenum and niobium. The difference in the energies of activation for these metals is due to the difference in their SWASC d5 values.
