Test of iron-liquid argon and lead-liquid argon sampling calorimeters for detection of electromagnetic showers

1980
Abstract Iron-liquid argon and lead-liquid argon sampling calorimeters were constructed and tested. The obtained energy resolutions due to the sampling fluctuation σ s / E for 1 GeV electrons were 6.1% and 9.6%, respectively. Our results are compared to those of scintillation sampling calorimeters and what the energy resolution depends on is discussed.
