Gas mixing in cylindrical chambers after radial jets injection
2007
Multiple jets injected radially into a cylindrical chamber have been numerically and experimentally studied. The chamber diameter was varied from 0.3 m to 3 m and the number of nozzles from 4 to 32. The optimum condition was obtained at a penetration depth (h/R) of 0.6 which occurred for a normalised momentum flux ratio (J/n²) of 0.3. The optimum mixing quality for high number of nozzles becomes nearly independent of J/n² in the range greater than 0.3. The larger the diameter of the cylindrical chamber is, the higher must be the number of nozzles to ensure similar mixing quality.
