Scalable terahertz antennas, their preparation and use

2008
With the invention, a class of components is described, which allow any modes (defined as the spatial distribution of the electric field intensity of the radiation) to generate terahertz waves elementary and in an optimum manner, that is, under the best possible adaptation of the detector geometry to the mode to detect. This freedom in the creation of modes is of fundamental interest for new applications in the field of terahertz radiation and brings great advantages in systems using terahertz waveguides. This terahertz emitter and detectors are characterized by their scalability, so that high acceleration fields can be realized at a low acceleration voltage over large areas in the emitters. So that the operation is simplified and the efficiency increased.
