Passivating and Repassivating Metals to Prevent Their Corrosion Destruction

2001
During the life, a person uses numerous natural phenomena and processes, which facilitate the being. However, there should always be someone in the History who did this for the first time, who succeeded in overcoming the difficulties which were beyond the power of others. A person who is ready to devote all the life to apprehending the mysteries of the nature and who is able to discover them becomes a leading scientist. In the sphere of protecting more and more deficient metallic materials against corrosion, it was academician Ya.M. Kolotyrkin who became such a scientist in the XXth century. His works in this field are many-sided, but of an especially high importance are those which deal with the problem of passivation of metals as one of the most efficient ways of corrosion protection. Our report concerns these works.
