Urban Drainage Model Handling Tool

2011
Today urban drainage models are used as a planning tool for urban drainage systems on a regular basis. As computer power has increased, the amount of data included in the models has also increased. In order to maintain the credibility of these models, it is very important to keep track of the origin of input data and to be able to produce a model based on these input data at any time. This paper describes an urban drainage model handling tool, which handles model input data in a database environment. In this database environment it is possible to keep track of data and to mark which data that should be investigated further for verification. The tool also contains an option for including one or several scenarios with possible changes to the system in the generated model. It is shown how the tool is able to generate a sub-model which is used in a case study. In the case study, results from several reduction methods are compared with an unreduced reference model. The comparisons show that the outlet flows from two areas are not seriously affected when the model is reduced.
