A new mechanism of toughening glassy polymers. 1. Experimental procedures

An increase of toughness by about a factor of 10 above that of polystyrene can be achieved with a 1,1% polybutadiene (MW = 2760) blend if the precipitated polybutadiene pods can be maintained at a size smaller than 0,2 μm. The origin of this effect is discussed
