Topological Overview of Single-Inductor based Multiple-Output Channel LED Driver

Recently, the usage of light-emitting diode (LED) have grabbed the market and come into the spotlight due to their key advantages such as low energy consumption, compact size and fast switching. LED works on the constant current and for this purpose numerous LED driver circuits have been proposed in state of art. Among them, a single inductor based multi output (SIMO) driver circuit has drawn attention due to multiple channel output, less component count and compact size. This paper aims to review several single inductor based LED driver circuits and compared with their counter parts in aspects of architecture, integration, operation and control scheme of the driver circuit. Further, the control strategy and designing of SIMO based LED driver based circuit has been generalized. The major pros and cons have been summarized in this paper.
