Characterization of “Back-Contact” - Semiconductor Junction Through Functional Study for Enhancement of Solar Cell Efficiency

2021
Although, the majority of scientific studies on photovoltaic cells are done on the main PN junction (contact of the front of cell), the latter is responsible for the major characteristics of the cell such as power, efficiency and others. This does not prevent the study of the back contact as it has its importance too, and requires more studies, which is one of the goals of this work. For this characterization, a functional analysis must be made either through the study of the capacity of the junction or again through the study of the common current-voltage characteristics. For this study, we took a monocrystalline silicon semiconductor because of its high efficiency, with two variants: silicon layer type “N” and “P” type silicon layer. The fact that silicon is a primary material almost in abundance and it is not an intermediate material like germanium. This leaves the silicon industry at a rich future progress.
