The Turkish-Greek Conflict in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Role of Regional Parties

The Middle East has become an arena for disputes and conflicts between States. Perhaps one of the most deep-rooted issues in the Middle East is the Turkish-Greek conflict, where this conflict affects and is influenced by world politics and dates to the founding of the two States. This traditional conflict has taken the form of a frozen conflict, or a Cold War, often with an outbreak, and it is against this background that the need has emerged to know the driving factors behind the current conflict, the longest crisis between the two countries since the Turkish military intervention in Cyprus in 1974. Therefore, this research aims to clarify the Turkish-Greek conflict, its motives, and causes, and the role of the territorial parties in the conflict; because of the historical depth of this conflict, we have had to use the historical approach and the approach of international conflict. The study found the following findings: The natural resources discovered in the Eastern Mediterranean have had the greatest impact on intense conflict between the parties and its resurgence, and the regional parties have also intensified the conflict. The researchers recommend the need for serious and confidential negotiations between Turkey and Greece and negotiations between all parties involved in natural gas.
