Pregnancy and Labor in the Paraplegic

1988
The ability of paraplegic women to conceive has to be considered normal. Spinal cord injured women ought to be informed in good time about the chances and risks of pregnancy and parturition. Experience proves that as a rule this information may have a positive psychological effect on therapy and rehabilitation. The formerly held opinion that paraplegia and pregnancy have to exclude one another, and moreover that pregnancy may cause an additional danger for the paraplegic woman, cannot be confirmed. So the physician should emphatically contradict such views.
