Efectividad de Mindfulness en Reducir Ideación Suicida en Jóvenes Universitarios Víctimas de Acoso Escolar

2017
Research indicate that the experience of bullying victimization during school has a high correlation with further problems like anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation at adulthood. Accordingly, mindfulness is a transtheoretical psychological technique that is effective in the treatment of high risk suicidal patients. Therefore, the present study aim to do a 7 week- mindfulness intervention with a group of young college students over 18 years old, that have suicidal ideation as a result of the frequent and intense bullying victimization. In order to define the sample, the Retrospective Bullying Questionnaire will be used. The present study is a cuantitative research with a pre-post experimental design with two groups. The measures that will be used are the Adult Suicidal Ideation Questionnaire and the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale. It is hypothesized that the results in the experimental group will show a significant reduction in the suicidal ideation, a significant increase in the capacity of mindfulness, and a negative correlation between both measures. On the other hand, no significant changes over time in the control group are expected. In conclusion, mindfulness will be a effective intervention with vulnerable adults that have been victimized in the school to diminish their suicidal ideation.
