Camera auto-calibration by video sequence of single walking pedestrian in surveillance video

A single camera-based auto-calibration method is presented to obtain the camera parameters from a video surveillance sequence.The horizontal vanishing line and the vertical vanishing point are computed from the extracted head-foot positions of the pedestrian contours,with all the parameters then deduced from the principal point and the vanishing point.The find result is optimized based on the RANSAC method.Tests show that this method is robust to various circumstances and precise enough to be applied to other research fields.
