On Sushi’s Personal Character and His Ci Style

Among Sushi’s variable Ci-poetic styles,there is the graceful and restrained style moving readers with its fresh and deep characteristics,and the bold and unconstrained style touching readers as magnificently as the heaven wind threatens sea.His poetry is not wedded to the corrupt customs and established conventions but forms "Dongpo Style" of great philosophical interest which is characterized by "writing poetry by means of prose" and "writing poetry by means of scholarship".The Dongpo Style is rich in philosophic theory and literary talent as the wonders of heaven and earth.He initiated the bold and unconstrained school as an unprecedented and refreshing one and his graceful and restrained poetry develops a school of its own as well.Being read,the works are inextricable and pathetic.Nevertheless,Su dongpo has suffered many a tough setback during his life.It is his extraordinary life experience that creates him an outstanding figure while the guiding thought of his life is intricate either.And in all,no matter in terms of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism,Sushi deserves to be regarded as a dazzling star in literary world of Song Dynasty.
