Mathematical Models for Appointment Planning

2014
Up to date, a vast amount of theoretical work has evolved around the subject of appointment planning, where the majority of literature appeared in the last 10–15 years. It goes beyond the scope of this book to provide a complete overview, especially since there are already several excellent review articles available. Several studies provide good starting points for those interested. In this chapter we use the taxonomy by Hulshof et al. (2012) to provide a brief introduction to the most commonly used mathematical models in appointment planning.
