Effect of phase composition for nickel steel on low-cycle impact fatigue resistance

1983
1. The optinum amount of residual austenite in the structure of nickel steel 44N14, providing the greatest resistance to impact fatigue, increases with a reduction in the level of cyclic stresses. 2. With an increase in the amount of residual austenite in the structure of nickel steel, the relative duration of the fatigue-crack initiation period also increases, and this occurs to a greater extent with a lower level of cyclic stresses.
