PP-264 ASSESSMENT OF RED CELL DISTRIBUTION WIDTH (RDW) IN PATIENTS WITH OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA SYNDROME

2013
Results: No difference was observed among the groups in terms of the age, DBP, fasting blood glucose, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, hemoglobin, hematocrit and mean corpuscular volume. SBP, BMI, total-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol levels were observed to be higher in the psoriasis group in comparison to the healthy controls (Table 1). Patients with psoriasis exhibited significantly higher hsCRP levels compared to control subjects (0.98±0.47 vs. 0.55±0.25mg/dl; p < 0.001). Comparison of RDW values showed statistically significantly higher RDW values in psoriasis group versus control group (14.1±1.6 vs.13.4±1.0 fl; p =0.02) (Figure 1). In the correlation analysis, RDW was positively coralated with age (r = 0.275, p = 0.004) and hsCRP level (r = 0.290, p = 0.003). Conclusions: Our results suggest RDW and hsCRP were higher in the psoriasis patients compared with the control group. These results show that RDW is a reliable, easily measurable and inexpensive laboratory variable for patients with psoriasis.
