Larval Development of Blaesoxipha pachytyli (Skuse) (Diptera: Sarcophagidae), a Parasite of Grasshoppers and Locusts (Orthoptera: Acrididae) in Australasia

1995
The parasitic development of Blaesoxipha pachytyli larvae was studied in Chortoicetes terminifera (Walker) in the laboratory. At constant temperature larval development ranged from 3.75 d at 35°C to 7.9 d at 20°C. Post-parasitic survival to pupal and adult stages was positively correlated with larval weight at time of emergence from the host. Larval weight was related to host stage and the nutritional status of the host.
